BIM Regulations in Vietnam by 2026
1. Legal Framework

2. BIM Requirements by 2026
(1) Mandatory Application
By 2026, BIM will be mandatory for:
- Construction works of Grade II or higher
- Projects using public investment, state capital, or PPP
(2) Expanded Scope
- 2024: Applied to special-grade and Grade I projects
- 2026: Expanded to Grade II projects
(3) BIM Documentation Requirements
BIM models must be included in:
- Feasibility study reports
- Construction design documents
- Construction permit applications
- Project acceptance/inspection
👉 BIM becomes an official part of legal documentation
(4) BIM Data Management (Draft 2026)
- Rights and responsibilities for BIM data must be defined in contracts and regulations
- Ministry of Construction issues general guidelines
- Specialized ministries provide detailed instructions
(5) General Policy
- Encourage BIM adoption across all projects
- Integrate BIM with:
- Digital transformation
- Lifecycle management
- Construction databases
